Online shopping boosts express delivery business in Guangdong province
WITH the fuel from rapidly growing online shopping, Guangdong's express delivery business is able to sustain a fast increase in the shadow of shrinking logistics demand due to slowing down economy.
Statistics from Guangdong Statistics Bureau, quoted by Xinhua, show that the province handled 521 million express packages in the first half of this year, 28.7 per cent more than in one year ago. The robust growth in express business has also brought a strong increase of 26.6 per cent to China Post Guangdong office's business volume to CNY16.55 billion (US$2.6 billion).
In the same period, ports in Guangdong only recorded a flat throughput growth of 5.3 per cent to 653 million tonnes.
