Bell Helicopter and APM Terminals set up regional operations in Singapore

APM Terminals, an independent business unit under AP Moller group, and the commercial and military aircraft manufacturer Bell Helicopter have become the latest companies to set up regional operations in Singapore, which is fast gaining recognition as a key logistics hub in the Asia Pacific.

APM Terminals opened its regional headquarters in the Lion City in a bid to strengthen its operations and infrastructure to serve high-growth Asian economies, such as India, Thailand, Pakistan, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines, leaving APM in Shanghai to focus mainly on China and Japan, reported Singapore's Procurement Asia.

"The new regional headquarters in Singapore will enable us to focus on the terminals that we manage and operate in Southeast Asia and the Indian sub-continent," said APM Terminals CEO Kim Fejfer.

Bell Helicopter, in partnership with aviation firm Cessna Aircraft Company, has also set up a regional service centre in Singapore at the Seletar Aerospace Park.

With plans to become a regional hub, the facility will offer repair, completion, fulfilment, maintenance and customisation solutions and services for its customers in the Asia Pacific region. It will also be equipped for training, performing customisation and completions, major refurbishment projects, labour and parts sales, maintenance, repair and overhaul.

So far this year, several other global companies such as P&G, Kulicke & Soffa, Konica Minolta, and Kuehne + Nagel have established regional offices in Singapore.
