Walmart plans to discriminate in favour of female-owned businesses
WALMART has reaffirmed its decision to discriminate against male-own businesses by doubling product sourcing from female-owned enterprises across its global supply chain.
The company will also help women through hiring practices. Walmart Asia has been developing empowerment programmes across the region, helping increase women-owned businesses and making sizeable donations to charitable initiatives.
In the US, Walmart has made a commitment to source US$20 billion from women owned businesses, the company said.
With the launch of its Walmart Global Sourcing programme, the company aims to improve the lives of women factory workers in Bangladesh, India and other key sourcing markets.
