MSC to up Asia-US west/east coasts rates, rail links from September
GENEVA-based Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), the world's second largest carrier, has announced it will increase freight rates for shipments from Far East and south east Asia to the US and Puerto Rico from September 1. For cargo from Asia to the US west coast, the rate increase will be US$400 per TEU, $500 per FEU and $550 per 40-foot high-cube container.
For shipments to the US intermodal points passing through or via US west coast ports, the increase will be $560 per TEU, $700 per FEU and $750 per 40-foot high-cube.
Also, rates for shipments from Asia to the US east coast ports and to the US intermodal points moving through or via US east coast ports will increase $560 per TEU, $700 per FEU and $750 per 40-foot high cube container.
