Box volume at Haifa surges 12pc to first half record of 719,883 TEU
ISRAEL's mayor seaport of Haifa, handled a total of 719,883 TEU in the first half, an increase in container volume of nearly 12 per cent year on year.
The port pointed out in a press release that during the same period in 2011, it registered a double-digit increase in all container segments. The total number of local containers, both import and export, increased 10 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
In transshipments, the port registered an increase of 18 per cent during the first six months, compared to the corresponding period last year. In total the port handled 12,196 tonnes, an increase of seven per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
