Xinjiang starts building US$2 billion trade and sourcing centre
NORTHWEST Xinjiang region has commenced construction of an international trade and sourcing centre in Changji Prefecture, north of Urumqi with an investment of CNY13 billion (US$20 billion), reports Xinhua.
The centre, scheduled to open in 2016, is expected to improve the movement of commodities and materials within Xinjiang, prompting further development of territorial industry.
Covering 333 hectares, the facility is composed of a trading centre, a exhibition hall, a convention centre, a five-star hotel, a business hotel, supporting commercial areas, a theme park, a heat-supplying plant and a electricity switching station.
The centre is expected to attract 2,000 enterprises that should generate CNY40 billion trade value and 40,000 jobs.
