Tianjin Port Group to cooperate with Taiwan International Ports
TIANJIN Port Group and Taiwan International Ports Corporation have signed a letter of cooperation intent to strengthen cooperation on port, shipping and logistics businesses, Xinhua reports.
Tianjin Port Group chairman Yu Rumin and Taiwan International Ports Corporation chairman Hsiao Ding-Hsun have signed the agreement on behalf of their companies.
Tianjin Port Group's Yu Rumin said the two parties will also join hands on launching more new shipping services and encourage shipping service providers from Tianjin to set up offices at Taiwan and at Tianjin.
Tianjin is one of the first ports in China to launch services to Taiwan. It is now operating six lines to Taiwan's Kaohsiung and Keelung with 12 ships offering weekly services. Last year, Tianjin's Taiwan cargo throughput amounted to 176,000 TEU.
Taiwan International Ports Corporation is officially founded in March this year, integrating the four ports of Kaohsiung, Keelung, Taichung and Hualien.
