13,092-TEU MSC Margrit's delivery completes line's eight-megaship series
MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company has taken its last in a series of eight neo-panamax VLCS built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and ordered in 2007 by Nordcapital, the fund raising company of ER Schiffahrt.
A report by Alphaliner said the 13,092-TEU joined the fleet of the newly formed Blue Star Holding as E R Margrit, after originally being called the ER Castor, with ER Schiffahrt as managing partner.
It said all eight sister ships were initially secured for 15 years by MSC in 2008, with subsequent deals separately involving MSC and SinOceanic as purchasers.
The MSC Margrit has been sublet to CMA CGM, which has renamed the ship CMA CGM Margrit. She follows the MSC Renee delivered in May.
The French shipping line will deploy the CMA CGM Margrit on its Asia-Europe FAL 1 loop, with MSC and UASC as co-loaders and they will brand the service as Condor and AEC 2 respectively.
