Kunming Changshui Airport opens, hopes to move 2.3 million tonnes a year

KUNMING'S Changshui Airport recently held a opening ceremony, marking the official commencement of the airport's operation, Xinhua reports.

The airport cost over CNY23 billion (US$3.62 billion) to build. It has a cargo capacity of 950,000 tonnes and a passenger capacity of 38 million persons per year and can handle 303,000 aircrafts of arrival and departures.

In the future, the airport's annual capacity will be further raised to 2.3 million tonnes in terms of cargo, 38 million persons in terms of passengers and 456,000 flights in terms of aircraft movement.
