SBS Worldwide leases pilot trucks to accelerate delivery, accent brand
SBS Worldwide, a global transport provider, has leased two trucks that bear its own brand name and distinctive livery as a pilot programme in the Chicago area.
The initiative is intended not only to promote the brand, but also to improve the company's ability to meet customers' just-in-time (JIT) requirements by enabling it to deliver cargo more quickly to O'Hare International airport to meet deadlines for departure flights as well as meet the pickup and delivery requirements of customers in the Chicago area.
The trucks will also provide additional trucking capacity to meet continued volume growth in the Chicago area.
"If our growing customer base has any last minute requirements, we have our trucks as back up in case our third-party logistics providers are unable to meet demand," said US managing director Lars Kloch.
The smaller of the two trucks is being used to transport loose cargo that is picked up and delivered in the airport, while the larger truck is used for the main airline transfers on a daily basis from its warehouse in Elmhurst to O'Hare International on inbound and outbound shipments.
