Ningxia's 5-month rail freight volume up 10.8pc to 20.7 million tonnes
NINGXIA Autonomous Region, in China's northern territories, posted a 10.8 per cent growth year on year in railway transport volume to 20.76 million tonnes in the first five months, reports Xinhua.
Container cargo rose 50.7 per cent to 729,300 tonnes, bulk grain was up 1.4 per cent to 235,300 tonnes and coal volume grew 10.3 per cent to 16.03 million tonnes, while petroleum products slipped 0.5 per cent to 1.17 million tonnes. Steel volume increased 5.6 per cent to 525,500 tonnes, chemical products went up 15.2 per cent to 367,500 tonnes, but chemical fertiliser dropped 4.5 per cent to 679,300 tonnes.
