CEVA lands five-year contract to make showroom2bedroom deliveries

CEVA Logistics has been awarded a five-year contract to provide two-man, home delivery services for the Silentnight Group, a top bed manufacturer in the UK.

The service includes placement of the item in the customers' room of choice, assembly if required and the collection of old mattresses and divan bases for recycling and disposal, as well as freight management and warehousing.

Under the terms of the agreement, the logistics provider's specialist home delivery unit, CEVA Home, will make more than 70,000 deliveries each year for the Silentnight, Rest Assured and Sealy brands. The mattresses and divan bases will be collected from two manufacturing sites in Lancashire and Cumbria and deliveries will be made on behalf of major national retailers.

The supply chain management company said in a statement that it will be responsible for contacting end customers to agree a date for home delivery from its National Customer Contact Centre in Warrington, which operates six days a week.

Senior general manager, Business Development for the Consumer and Retail sector in the UK, Jon Evans, said: "Replacing three previously separate home delivery suppliers, we will provide Silentnight Group with a single, consistent, quality focused service, enabling them to focus on their core business activities of manufacturing and selling their products."
