OOCL, X-Press Feeders team up to offer Myanmar-Malaysia-Singapore service
OOCL and X-Press Feeders are offering a joint feeder service connecting Yangon in Myanmar to Malaysia's Port Klang and Singapore as interest in the nation mounts following its recent political liberalisation.
The new joint service, Yangon Straits Shuttle (YSS), will deploy two 1,000- to 1,100-TEU vessels, with each partner providing one vessel. The port rotation is: Singapore, Yangon, Port Klang, Singapore.
The service will turn in two weeks, and the first sailing is scheduled to depart from Singapore on June 24.
Alphaliner reported the maiden voyage will be undertaken by the 1,114-TEU Frisia Lahn that had previously been used by OOCL on the Belawan and Malaysia service (BSS) until being replaced by the recently chartered 1,118-TEU Paola.
The second vessel to be deployed on the YSS service is the 1,012-TEU ESM Cremona that has been freshly chartered by X-Press Feeders after recently being redelivered by MCC Transport.
X-Press Feeders is the new name given to for an independent feeder carrier, which combines the services previously marketed under Sea Consortium and X-Press Container Line following a brand reorganisation in mid-2011.
