Pearl River Delta air traffic meeting held in Macau June 18
THE Pearl River Delta Region Air Traffic Management Planning and Implementation Supervisory Group held its latest meeting in Macau on June 18 to have final discussion on how to modify air traffic control procedures to cater for future needs with airspace enhancements, and to increase the efficiency of air traffic operations in the region.
The group was established by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department and the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau to enhance collaboration and improve airspace utilisation.
An agreement was reached to set up a Southern PRD Terminal Area encompassing all Pearl River Delta airports in Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. "This will increase regional air transport capability and achieve the ultimate objectives of realising joint airspace planning, use of common standards and harmonised flight procedure design by 2020 as planned," said a Hong Kong Government statement.
