India to create Air Cargo Logistics Board to set infrastructure policy
INDIA' s Civil Aviation Ministry is establishing an inter-ministerial committee to lay down policy guidelines for the air cargo logistics sector that includes the development of air cargo hubs nationwide.
The committee would be responsible for formulating policy for the setting up of air cargo facilities at airports, air freight stations and cargo villages and the guidelines for a public-private partnership model to develop these facilities, reports the Press Trust of India.
The 17-member Inter-Ministerial Air Cargo Logistics Board, headed by Civil Aviation Secretary Nasim Zaidi, would take into account the need to meet growing demand for air cargo services and ensure timely delivery of goods while working on the policy guidelines.
The board would set policy for the establishment of air cargo facilities to ensuring quality of service, while implementation of the policy regime would be reviewed on a regular basis. It would also seek ways to resolve inter-ministerial issues affecting air cargo logistics operations.
