MASkargo to pay US$6 million fine for price-fixing in Australia
MALAYSIA Airlines Cargo (MASkargo) will pay A$6 million (US$6 million) and legal costs of A$500,000 for price-fixing of air cargo rates between 2001-2005 to be paid over 24 months in five instalments.
MASkargo and its parent company Malaysia Airlines will settle with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's (ACCC) following the court ruling over charges of price collusion in fuel surcharges between 2002-2005, security charges between 2001-2005 and customs fees in 2004-2005, said a report from Malaysian Star.
Qantas, British Airways, Air France/KLM, Cargolux, Martinair, Japan Airlines and Korean Airlines were other carriers having to pay fines in the price fixing case.
