Fujian ports' April box volume up 12.3pc - total cargo, 35 million tonnes
SEAPORTS in southeast Fujian province recorded an aggregate throughput of 862,700 TEU in April, an increase of 12.3 per cent over the same month last year. Throughput tonnage of these ports grew 11 per cent to 35.18 million tonnes.
Containerised foreign trade cargo amounted to 549,100 TEU, 14.1 per cent more year on year, Xinhua reports.
From January to April, Fujian seaports' container throughput grew 10 per cent year on year to 3.11 million TEU. Their throughput tonnage increased 9.8 per cent to 124 million tonnes.
In April, the province's transshipments from its neighbouring provinces surged 88 per cent to 1.5 million tonnes. The volume in the period from January to April jumped 49.3 per cent up to 3.05 million tonnes.
