ShanHaiGuan SHIPYARD,situated on the No.1 Shipyard Road of Qinhuangdao Economic & Technical Development Zone is a large state-owned enterprise which belongs to China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation(CSIC).It was found in 1972 and put into production formally in 1986.The yard covers a total area of 2,160,000m2, including 1,360,000m2 on land and 800,000m2 in water, with total property of 1.795 billion RMB and three dry docks: a Handy-size (170×28×9.1m), a Panama –size (240×39×11.4m) and a VLCC-sized (340×64×12.8m), the third one which is the biggest dock for shiprepair in China. In the yard, there are 10 wharfs ( No.0 to No.9) of 2,018m in total, 4 harbor tugs, steel processing shop, piping reshaping and positioning shop, twice painting shop and more than 3000 sets of all kinds of equipment including: numerical-controlled cutting machine, steel pretreatment line, mangle plate straigthener and 200 tons portal jib crane etc. There are 2,735 workforces in SHG Shipyard with 900 highly skilled, experienced engineers and architects. The yard has certified with ISO9001-2000 and now develops steadily in the quality system.  By its advanced facilities and techniques, SHG Shipyard can complete conversion and specialized repair for VLCC tanker, drilling-platform, bulk carrier, general cargo carrier, roll on / roll off vessel, container ship, refrigerated carrier, ore carrier, crane ship, pick up boat, supply vessel, harbor vessel and chemical carrier comply with the specifications, international conventions and standards by CCS. Meanwhile, the yard is engaged in cargo handling and storage. In 1995, the yard has awarded the authority of direct import and export for foreign trade. In 2001, the yard has awarded the right to conduct independent harbor business.

The yard manages ship and offshore repair, conversion, newbuilding, manufacture of port handling equipment, steel structure fabrication and spare part supply with an annual repairs more than 100 vessels, keeping close relationships with the major ship owners more than 30 areas and countries such as India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Greece, America and Hong Kong. The yard has successfully completed two FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Off-loading System, 280,000dwt per unit) conversions, and a number of repairs and conversions of jigs and platforms for COSCO, HEBEI OCEAN SHIPPING, Daewoo Heavy Industries and Sam sang Shipbuilding Co.Ltd. The yard has not only converted OBO into double-skin oil tanker for Italy, but also completed Semi-submersible Barge for HHI and TIV -1, the first turbine installation vessel in the world for mayflower energy ltd, which has set up the trademark of SHG Shipyard in the shipping industry.

During 1999-2004, SHG Shipyard had considered development as the theme and adjustment as the main clue for making a strategy which includes: treating shiprepair as key point, developing shipbuilding, expanding ocean engineering and keeping diversified economy. Nowadays, the strategy has been put into effect and SHG Shipyard has a stable situation in production and management. The project of 2600 container vessel newbuilding, 30000 DWT bulk carrier newbuilding, 70000 Mton   lifting capacity floating dry dock newbuilding, 74000 DWT self-loader bulk carrier conversion has gone into operation.
