2nd China-ASEAN expo open in Guangxi

The second China-ASEAN Expo has opened in Nanning, the provincial capital of south China''s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong and other senior leaders from ASEAN countries attended the opening ceremony held this morning.

An unexpected rain delayed this morning''s China-ASEAN Expo for about 3 hours. But the smiles on the face of the ASEAN leaders seem to tell tha the rain couldn''t dampen their interest in the prospects of the China-ASEAN trade ties. Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong announced the opening of the Expo.

Zeng said, "I now declare that the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo opens."

The 2nd China-ASEAN Expo is providing more than 3,300 display booths to the participating countries and companies, about 1000 more than that the inaugural Expo last year.

Chinese vice president meets ASEAN trade, economic ministers

Journalists from more than 100 media organizations have arrived in Nanning, capital of south China''s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as of Tuesday afternoon, focusing on the trade and economic relations between China and the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Approximate 270 journalists, including 46 from foreign countries and 14 from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, are expected to attend the 2nd China-ASEAN Expo, 13 percent more than last year, said Zhou Guidong, a publicity official with the autonomous region''s government.

"We will attach great importance to reporting the development of ASEAN companies in China and the investment opportunities that the expo will bring to the ASEAN countries," said a Journalist from Singapore.
