In order to meet the development of ship repair market, and provide all-round convenient and high quality service, China Merchants Group made a strategy of building a new shipyard on Mazhou Island to enlarge and strengthen ship repair industry, the new shipyard based on Shekou Yiulian plans to be invested RMB 2,400,000,000. The Mazhou Island located at the estuary of the Pearl River and totally occupying 700 thousand sq.m with 3400-meter-long quays including 3010m sheltered berth. Two floating docks (70,000-ton class and 30,000-ton class) will be move to the new shipyard, together with two new dry docks (300,000dwt and over 300,000dwt), which enables her a shipyard of the first class in the world. The over 300,000dwt dry dock aims at ULCC, VLCC repair; FPSO、FSO conversion; boring platform repair and conversion, and the 300,000dwt dry dock aims at Large Tanker, LNG, Ocean Liner, 12,000TEU Container Ship, Cape Size Bulk Carrier’s repair and conversion. The new shipyard will put into production in 2007, aiming to be a ship and ocean engineering repair base of the first class in the world.
