STX Europe wins shipbuilding order

South Korea's STX Group said on Friday STX Europe, formerly Aker Yards, had won a 750 million Norwegian crown ($112.3 million) order for three icebreaker tug vessels from Kazakhstan ship owner JSC Circle Marine Invest. STX said the ships would be delivered between 2010 and 2011 for the Kashagan oilfield development project in the Caspian Sea.
STX Europe was renamed from Aker Yards after STX Group bought Europe's biggest shipbuilder, based in Norway.
Shipping-to-energy group STX also operates its own shipbuilding company in South Korea, STX Shipbuilding.
