Russian shipbuilders could receive RUB 680 billion orders by 2015
Interfax-AVN citing Mr Viktor Khristenko Russian Industry and Trade Minister as saying that Russian shipbuilding companies may receive about 680 billion rubles worth of orders for the construction of civilian vessels in the period up to 2015. Mr Khristenko said at a conference dealing with the development of the Russian civilian shipbuilding sector in St. Petersburg recently that "The possible potential orders that could serve as grounds for contracts in the period up to 2015 amount to RUB 680 billion. He said that if we compare this to the current volume of civilian shipbuilding, we have domestic civilian order worth about RUB 30 billion to RUB 35 billion."
He added that the plan of RUB 680 billion n the period up to 2015 would imply that the orders placed by Russian clients could triple on an average yearly basis, proceeding from the national or corporate strategies that exist today.
