Delivery of Naga 2 could be postponed to December
delivery of umw standard drilling sdn bhd's first jackup rig, naga 2, may be postponed to december, one month later than the previously targeted date in november, according to industry sources. ﹔ naga 2 is being constructed at drydocks world se asia's graha yard in batam, indonesia. ﹔ the jackup is also drydocks' first rig building project. naga 2 is due to begin a charter with pcpp operating co. sdn bhd from dec. 1, 2008. ﹔ the charter, valued at us$170 million, is for a primary period of three years, plus three one﹣year options. ﹔ the jackup will drill at least seven wells under the exploration and development programmes for pcpp's block sk 305 offshore sarawak, malaysia, according to a local press report.
umw standard drilling is a 85/15 joint venture between malaysia's umw naga two (l) ltd. and norway's standard drilling far east pte ltd. ﹔ the joint venture owns one other jackup, naga 3, also under construction at the same yard in indonesia. ﹔ the owners have reportedly called for slight modifications to the construction of naga 3, which was previously scheduled for delivery in june 2008.
