samsung heavy's q2 net jumps 24 pct
samsung heavy industries co., the world's second﹣largest shipyard, said today that its second﹣quarter earnings rose 24 per cent from a year earlier on rising demand for high﹣priced ships. net profit reached 168 billion won (us$167 million) in the april﹣june period, compared with 136 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing. sales climbed 24.2 per cent to 2.58 trillion won over the period, and operating income more than doubled to 193 billion won, according to the company.
