Shtokman contract for Murmansk shipyard
The “Sevmorput” shipyard in Murmansk is to assemble the two platforms which will be used in the Shtokman project. According to B-port.com, the shipyard has signed a contract with the Vyborg Shipyard, one of Gazprom’s main contractors in the Shtokman project. The shipyard located in the city of Murmansk will put together the platform foundation currently under construction in Vyborg, Russia, with the upper platform part, which is constructed by the Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea. The assembling of the Shtokman platforms will take place in 2010.
According to B-port.com, the shipyard will also be responsible for the construction of the two platforms’ ice-protecting cone.
The “Sevmorput”, also called Shipyard No 35, is part of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Centre in Severodvinsk (Arkhangelsk Oblast). According to Zvezdochka, the “Sevmorput” unit will in the years ahead play a key role in the development of the Shtokman project.
