Hindustan Shipyard delivers bulk carrier to Goodearth Maritime

Hindusthan Shipyard Ltd delivered the third vessel of the four trader series, the 30,000-DWT bulk carrier m.v. Good Pacific, to Goodearth Maritime Ltd (Chennai). It was vessel number 145 built and delivered by HSL since the start and the third such vessel built at the shipyard. The last (the fourth) of the series would be delivered next year along with the first of the 53,000 DWT handymax series to GML, according to the Director (Technical), Cmdr. Naresh Kumar, who handed over the vessel to the Managing Director of GML, Mr S. Madan.
Mr G. Muthukumar Swamy, the CEO of the Tamil Nadu Maritime Board, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The keel for the vessel, approximately costing Rs 100 crore, was laid in February 2007.
According to a press release issued on the occasion, HSL has at present orders worth Rs 1,443 crore.
The turnover of the company rose to Rs 405 crores during 2007-08 from a level of Rs 127 crore in 2003-04.
The technical features of the vessel, Good Pacific, are length 178.70 m, width 28.00 m, depth 14.00 m, draft (design) 9.50 m, draft 9 (scantling) 9.70 m, design speed 14.30 knots and complement (28 plus 6 persons).
