SHI showcases in-house glycol LNG regasification system to shipowners
Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.(“SHI”) successfully developed its own LNG regasification system for LNG-FSRU.
SHI showcased the system, called S-Regas(GI), to shipowners on 21th.
40 representatives from 19 shipowner companies including FSRU leaders like Golar LNG, Höegh LNG, GasLog attended the event.
The S-Regas(GI) utilizes glycol to regasify LNG into gas.
The S-Regas(GI) is SHI’s latest regasification achievement following the direct sea water regasification system.
S-Regas(GI) reduces chance of corrosion from traditional method of heating LNG directly with seawater, and is another energy efficient solution from SHI saving energy by 5%.
In-house regasification system enables not only cost savings but also improvement in schedule and quality management, further enhancing SHI’s leadership in the LNG-FSRU market.
SHI representative said “In-house development of the LNG regasification system improves LNG-FSRU’s safety and performance”.
“SHI will continue to lead market by developing the next generation technologies in the whole LNG value chain. With proven track record and experience we will meet customer’s needs such as saving operating costs of LNG-FSRU and solid performance,” he adds.
