Drydocks World wins Shipyard Facility of the Year and the Innovation Awards at the Maritime Standard Awards
Drydocks World the international service provider to the maritime, oil, gas and energy sectors has received the Shipyard/Ship Repair Facility of the Year and the Technology/Innovation Awards for the Modular Capture Vessels(MCV’s) project at the Maritime Standard Awards. The winners were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on November 6th 2014 at the Atlantis hotel in Dubai. The awards sought out best-in-class organizations, projects, employee safety milestones, goals and safety awareness in the workplace. Organizations that are committed to making safety a significant part of their business strategy and use innovative ideas to encourage and engage staff in workplace safety were recognized. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group.
The awards are one of the most prestigious events of the year and was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, and many leading personalities in the maritime industries and presented by the celebrated journalist, broadcaster and PR guru, Alastair Campbell, as Master of Ceremonies.

The Shipyard/Ship Repair Facility of the Year Award is considered to be one of the most prestigious accolades in the marine sector. Judges have recognized the yard’s capability throughout challenging market conditions and the ability to grow, improve and expand in the region. The Facility of the Year award has recognized innovation and creativity in maritime manufacturing facilities serving the maritime industry. Global players selected=”true” for these prestigious awards set the standard for maritime facilities by demonstrating excellence in Project Execution, Equipment Innovation, Facility Integration, Process Innovation, Sustainability and Operational Excellence.
The Technology /Innovation Award given to Drydocks World recognizes the most groundbreaking companies in the Maritime sector. To be awarded as a prominent industry innovator by key executives from top service providers is a significant achievement. Drydocks World has received this awardfor innovative projects such as the two MCV’s (Modular Capture Vessels), Eagle Texas and Eagle Louisiana. The MCV projects required 2530 tonnes of steel with 19.68 kmof pipes and 292km of electrical cables used. The MCV has the capacity to store 700,000 barrels of liquid, and can process, store and offload the liquids to shuttle tankers. Modular adaptable process equipment installed on the MCV will connect to the riser assembly that directs the flow from the subsea components. The process equipment will separate the liquids from gas, safely store the liquids and flare the gas. Liquids will then be offloaded to shuttle tankers which will transport the liquids to shore. With the delivery of the MCVs, Drydocks World has created a name for itself in sophisticated vessel conversions.
Drydocks World has been awarded the Offshore Marine Technology & Construction Award and the Ship Repair Innovation Award at Seatrade Middle East Maritime Awards 2014, as well as the World Confederation of Business’s The Bizz 2014 Trophy including the World Business Leader Certificate 2014 for outstanding Business Excellence and have received the prestigious 7th Cycle Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award – 2013 in the manufacturing category. This is the highest level of national recognition for business performance excellence that an organization in the UAE can achieve. Moreover, Drydocks World has also been acknowledged by Dubai Chamber for its CSR efforts and achieved the CSR Label 2014 recognition.
Drydocks World is certified by DNV for meeting ISO 9001:2008 requirements and Lloyds Register Quality Assurance for meeting OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirements, and authorized by ASME and National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors for the usage of ‘U’, ‘R’ and ‘NB’ Stamps. The company has received formal recognition through American Petroleum Institute (API) for API Specification Q1 certification. Drydocks World-Dubai has maintained since 2003, a British Safety Council 5-Star Rating for its safety management system, a proud recipient of the coveted British Safety Council Sword of Honour for the 10th time and has been recognized with the “Best International Enterprise” award at the 2014 Socrates Awards.
