Samsung Heavy Industries said Tuesday that it won a $440-million order from an European company to build three arctic tankers.
The carriers will be delivered in the first half of 2017 to a European company, which declined to be specified.
The company won an order for three icebreakers from the Russian state-run shipping firm Sovcomflot in 2005.
With the latest deal, the company has won a total of $5.9 billion shipbuilding orders in sum as of Oct. 7 this year.
The company expects more shipbuilding orders to come.
