Coscol books semi-submersible vessel at GSI
Cosco Shipping Co Ltd (Coscol) has approached Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) for the construction of one 90,000-dwt, DP2-capable semi-submersible vessel.
The new offshore vessel will be delivered in the last quarter of 2016.
Last month, Coscol ordered a 50,000-dwt semi-submersible vessel from Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). The vessel, also DP2-capable, will be delivered in 2016.
Coscol, the heavy lift arm of Cosco Group, currently has a fleet of six semi-submersible vessels with a total capacity of 210,000 dwt.
The Chinese shipowner also owns and operates heavy lift vessels, multi-purpose vessels, general cargo ships, and car carriers.
