Hongqiang Heavy Industry bags order to build 64,000 dwt bulkers
China’s Hongqiang Heavy Industry has clinched an order to build three 64,000 dwt dry bulk carriers with options for three more sister units from an unnamed European shipowner.
The first of the three new bulk carriers are scheduled to be delivered from the Jiangsu-based shipyard in October 2015.
Hongqiang Heavy Industry said the vessels will feature environmentally-friendly features for higher energy efficiency and lower fuel consumption.
The yard added that the latest deal marks the first time that it has won orders to build the larger sized 64,000-dwt class bulkers. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
