Vietsovpetro orders $200m rig at PV Shipyard

Vietsovpetro has signed a $200m contract with PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard to build drilling rig "Tam Dao 05” at its yard in Vung Tau.
 
The Tam Dao 05, which will be classed by ABS and Vietnam Register, is due for completion in 2016 will join sister rig Tam Dao 03 which has been in operation since 2012.
 
Vietsovpetro say the rig will help the firm become more proactive, and reduce the cost of hiring drilling rigs from foreign contractors.
