Deal with Spanish shipbuilders moving ahead, Mexican envoy says

The process of finalizing the contracts between shipyards in the northwestern Spanish region of Galicia and Mexican state-owned oil giant Pemex is moving ahead, but there is "no set date" for its conclusion, Mexican Ambassador to Spain Javier Ramirez Acuña said.
"What I do know is that it keeps moving forward," Ramirez Acuña said in a press conference at the start of a four-day visit to the region.
Deals like this need the "necessary adjustments" required under Mexican law, the ambassador said.
"We cannot determine the dates ourselves," but "we are certain that this is moving ahead" and "will surely end up well," Ramirez Acuña said.
The deal calls for Galicia to build 14 tugs - seven in its own shipyards and seven with Mexican shipyards - for state-owned oil giant Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex.
The Galician regional government and Pemex have made a series of commitments in the course of their negotiations for a strategic cooperation agreement to build the tugs.
