China International Marine Container Raffles Delivers the Sixth Deep-water Semi-submersible Drillin

The COSLPromoter is delivered at the deep water wharf of CIMC Raffles yard. The COSLPromoter is the third deep-water semi-submersible drilling rig delivers to COSL Drilling Europe, and also the sixth one built and delivered by CIMC Raffles since COSLPioneer in 2010.
The design and construction of COSLPromoter is in compliance with the relevant international regulations of PSA, NMD, DNV, and NORSOK in semi rigs, and it is capable of operating not only in Norwegian North Sea waters, the most harsh sea condition in the world, but also in other areas around the globe.
Some technical specifications of COSLPromoter are as follows: length of 104.5 meters, width of 65 meters, depth of 36.85 meters, design draught of 9.5 - 17.75 meters, operation in water depth of 70-750 meters, maximum wind speed of 51.5 M/second in survival conditions, maximum vertical drilling depth of 7500 meters, maximum variable deck load of 4000 tons, and design accommodation of 120 people, with both the foundations for drilling and living. A Dynamic Positioning 3 (DP3) System and the design of unmanned engine room (E0) enable the remote control in engine control room and pilot house. The matching and construction of key equipments correspond with the latest requirements of Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC).
Mr. Yang Zhonghua, the technology manager of COSLPromoter, said that compared with COSLPioneer and COSLInnovator, there were 54 key items in technology improved, therefore the pipeline space utilization are more reasonable, so dose some design details for improving the environment and comfortableness. Meanwhile, the well site adaptability project were finished in advance, so that much shorter time spent in acquiring AoC certificate.
As a sister rig of COSLPromoter, the COSLPioneer was considered as one of the best new rigs in performance of recent years, which ranking the fourth in comprehensive indicator and first in casing and tripping speed.
After the delivery of COSLPIONEER and COSLINNOVATER, we have organized the engineering and project management teams in studying the stability of North Sea deep-water semi-submersible drilling rigs, by referring to technological specification, aiming at summarizing the past construction experiences, and at boosting the engineering and project management capability. The obtained experiences have been used in COSLPROMOTER.
Another relevant piece of news:
The delivered deep-water semi-submersible drilling rig SS PANTANAL, to Brazil, is now working on the third well in Marin oil field; and the SS AMAZONIA was operated in Santos Basin since 10 Feb. 2012; and the Scarabeo 9 starts wildcat drilling on 1 Feb. 2012 in MC-26 block of north basin.
