Tankers Orders LR1 Product Tanker Vessels from DSIC

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) has received an order from Denmark-based company Tankers to build two LR1 vessels of 75,000dwt in the Liaoning province, China.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2013 and are expected to cost between $42m and $45m.
The company said that the newbuildings are highly fuel-efficient and are designed to save up to 25% bunker fuel costs when compared with other LR1 tonnage on the water.
The contract has an option for a further two LR1 newbuildings to be determined at a later stage.
