MSC marked 20 years in Israel
Mediterranean Shipping Company marked last week 20 years of shipping activities in Israel. The celebration to mark the event was held on board MSC Splendida at the port of Ashdod.
MSC Splendida is known as MSC’s new flagship, a masterpiece of seafaring design and Italian elegance.
The event held in the presence of Israel’s Minister of Environmental Protection, MK Gilad Erdan, Captain Pasquale Formisano, director at the Geneva (Switzerland) based carrier as well as many local clients and MSC agents from around the world.
MSC Israel president, Edni Simkin, noted in his speech that the Mediterranean Shipping Company is the second largest container shipping company in the world with a fleet numbering about 430 vessels and has a capacity of TEU1.8 million.
Simkin added that the company will transport some TEU300,000 this year, making it the second largest shipping company in Israel. The company is the largest customer of Ashdod port and plans to be the largest customer of Haifa port.
