Asry nominated for Sea Trade awards
Bahrain-based Arab Shipbuilding Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has been shortlisted for two awards by Sea Trade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.
This comes hot on the heels of winning the Lloyd's List Global award for Corporate Social Responsibility, the company said in a statement. The awards ceremony will be held at Dubai's Atlantis Hotel on Monday.
'The award nominations for the Ship Repair/Shipyard Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award are well deserved recognition of the increasing reputation held by Asry in the maritime world,' Asry chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa said.
'The board of Asry is committed to continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of our work at Asry,' he noted.
'We have an exciting yard expansion programme underway which will see the entering into operation of a new 1,380m repair quay wall at the end of 2011, as well as a large new offshore fabrication area.
'This will add greatly to the range of customers that we will be attracting,' he added.
The nomination for Ship Repair Yard is judged on a number of criteria, including investment in new capacity with the ability to deliver projects on time.
'Asry has built up a reputation for quality, cost effective and efficient service delivery 'Asry chief executive Chris Potter said.
'These nominations and the award won from Lloyds List, are welcomed recognition of the value that the Asry's board and its employees have placed on their role as corporate citizens over the years,' Shaikh Daij said.
'The nomination for its numerous corporate social responsibility activities impressed the judges for its enhancement of safety and environmental protection and its commitment to employee and community welfare,' he added.
