Six yards in the mix for Nigerian LNG spend
Korean and Japanese shipbuilders are in the mix for up to 14 LNG carrier newbuildings to serve the much-delayed Brass LNG project in Nigeria.
Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Samsung Heavy Industries and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding as well as Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries from Japan got the tender documents at the beginning of this month. The Brass shipping team is asking for offers on 12 to 14 LNG newbuildings in a range of three possible sizes of 155,000 cbm, 180,000 cbm and 216,000 cbm.
