MIIT: Completed Shipbuilding Volume Rose 73% In First Eight Months
China recorded an increase of 72.7 percent year-on-year in completed shipbuilding volume to 40.37 million deadweight tons (DWTs) in first eight months, reports yicai.com, citing data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Completed ships totaled 12.1 million compensated gross tonnages (CGT), of which 81.9 percent were meant for export.
New orders received by shipbuilders totaled 44.51 million DWTs, 4.1 times the amount of orders received last year during the same period.
Shipbuilding orders totaled 12.75 million CGT, of which 75.3 percent were meant for export.
The volume of domestic shipbuilding orders on hand as of the end of August was 194 million DWTs, up 3.1 percent from the end of 2009.
Shipbuilding orders totaled 53.95 million CGTs, of which 87.3 percent were meant for export.
The share price of Guangzhou Shipyard International (600685) reached 22.2 yuan by 13:25, down 0.36 percent.
