Construction of a shipyard to start in Q3,10 in Russian Primorsky Territory
An active phase of the DSME-ZVEZDA shipyard project constriction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of this year in Bolshoy Kamen of Primorsky Region, the regional Administration press service reported. The statement was made at a meeting of Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Khristenko, Governor of the Region Sergei Darkin, officials and authorities of the Far East Plant Zvezda.
According to an earlier report the LCC shipyard project was launched on November 18, last year. A co-investor of the Zvezda shipyard project is Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), a South Korean company, one of the global leading shipbuilding corporation. Currently, the formation of a Russian-Korean joint venture is underway.
According to Roman Trotsenko, the acting President of United Shipbuilding Corporation, the new shipyard is intended for the building of large vessels of various purposes, including ice-class 160dwt tankers and large gas carriers.
Vice Premier Viktor Khristenko highlighted the importance of the shipyard project for the entire development of the Far East. Through cooperation with world’s leading companies, Russian shipbuilders could have access to the most advanced technologies in the industry.
