Prospective shipyards owners refuse to engage Maltese dockyard workers
Palumbo Spa do not want to engage the remaining Dockyard workers and are also likely to ditch any old collective agreement.
In a press conference, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said that Palumbo wished to start afresh and did not want to be tied down with old agreements.
The 60 remaining workers have till 29 March to accept the new retirement scheme as offered by the Gonzi administration.
The shipyard was sold for 52 million euro net over a period of 30 years.
