Stena Polaris ship launched at Split shipyard
A tanker for transport of oil products in polar waters ordered by Swedish shipping company Concordia Maritime AB was launched at Split shipyard. The ship named Stena Polaris was launched by "godmother" Hella Andersen, the wife of ST Shipping chief Jan Andersen.
Branimir Kovacic, the manager of Brodosplit shipyard’s construction and sales department, commented about the recent award for the Stena Progress tanker built for Concordia Maritime AB at Brodosplit Shipyard.
Stena Progress has been selected as tanker of the year 2009 by Australian magazine Ships and Shipping.
Kovacic said: "World shipbuilding companies have recognized the quality of this project that has been reflected by this award. We believe Stena Polaris attests to the high level of eight years of cooperation between Concordia Maritime and Brodosplit shipyard."
