China shipbuilding gross profit in 2009 up by 29pctYoY

China Knowledge quoted statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said the gross output of China shipbuilding industry was CNY 548.4 billion in 2009 up by 28.7%YoY. The ministry said growth was 31.1 percentage points slower than in 2008.
According to customs statistics the total export value of ships, boats and floating structures surged 44.9%YoY to USD 28.36 billion in 2009, while import value soared 92.5% to USD 2.48 billion.
The shipbuilding industry export value was CNY 253.2 billion last year up by 17.8%YoY. The growth was 38.2 percentage points slower than in the previous year.
