Orskov Yard expands again

The global financial turmoil has been exacting a heavy toll on newbuilding yards around the world. But on Orskov Yard in Frederikshavn where they repair and convert vessels there are no signs of recession It has been a busy year for Orskov that has successfully been swimming against the financial tide. Orskov came out with a good result for the 2009 fiscal year and now with a strong order book position for the first half of 2010, Orskov Yard is ready to expand taking on 32 new staff members.
"We have had a high order intake and this necessitates that we hire in new staff", says managing director at Orskov Yard Jeppe Ørskov.
"Our order book position is strong for at least the next three to four months and we are looking to hire both steelworkers, machinists and pipe fitters. Our hope is of course that the growth will continue throughout 2010 securing the new jobs further into the future."
It is primarily a diverse range of ship conversions that is filling up the order book at Orskov Yard. The container vessel Irena Arctic from the Royal Arctic Line which originally was build on Ørskov Skibsværft in 1995 has now returned to be converted into burning heavy fuels. And Orskov Yard will be installing a new living module on an offshore vessel as well as converting a jack-up vessel.
"The upcoming projects at Orskov are very diverse and reflect the broadness of our competences", says Jeppe Orskov.
