Faruk Khan for Dutch investment in shipbuilding, textile industries
Commerce Minister Faruk Khan Tuesday called upon Dutch entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh?s emerging textile and shipbuilding industries. The minister made the remarks when newly appointed Netherlands Ambassador to Bangladesh Alphons J AJ MG Hennekens met him at his ministry.
The minister told the Dutch envoy that Bangladesh wants to utilize the skills and experiences of the Netherlands in proper river management, river dredging and land reclamation.
Faruk Khan requested the Dutch government for extending its assistance to Bangladesh in this regard.
The minister also sought Dutch assistance for land reclamation with a view to implementing government?s khas land allocation programme in the country?s each upazila.
The envoy said his country is working in several fields of Bangladesh and assured of taking necessary steps for boosting food output and making big silos with modern facilities after consultation with Food and Agriculture Departments of his country.
He said his country could extend assistance in ensuring proper atmosphere in mills and factories, traffic management, health and education, good agricultural seeds, improved technology and training.
Hennekens stressed the need for infrastructural development in Bangladesh for bolstering trade ties between the two countries.
