OSK and Daewoo Shipbuilding (S. Korea) to build a shipyard in Primorskii krai
United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) (S. Korea) plan to construct a shipyard estimated RUR45 billion in Primorskii krai. The agreement on the aforementioned construction was signed, stated Vedomosti with reference to Far East Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair OJSC (DCSS) OSK.
The shipyard is planned to be completed by late 2011. Heavy-tonnage ice-class vessels are to be built in it (tankers, gas-carriers — from 80 thousand to 260 thousand m3.), drilling vessels, floating plants on liquefied gas production for shelf development.
A joint venture on the aforementioned project implementation is planned to set up QI, 2010, with DSME share 20-49%.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK OJSC) with 100% federal ownership was set up in 2007. OSK comprises three daughter companies: Open JSC «Western Center of Shipbuilding» (St.-Petersburg), Open JSC «Northern Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair» (Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk region) and Open JSC «Far East Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair» (Vladivostok) as well as leading design bureaus. In 2008, net loss of OSK under Russia Accounting standard totaled RUR 37.014 mln with revenue amounting to RUR 40.169 mln.
Far East Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair OJSC comprises specialized enterprises of Primorie, Khabarovsk including Amur Shipbuilding Company OJSC and Nikolaevskii-na-Amure Shipyard.
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering is the second world’s shipbuilding companies in the volumes of commercial shipbuilding. The company is specialized in gas-carriers building, floating plants on gas liquefaction, shelf deposits platforms. 10% of the vessels built in the world and 30% of gas-carriers produced fall onto DSME. Company’s turnover amounts to $8 billion annually. DSME comprises shipyards in Korea, China, the USA, and Romania.
