New buyer secures shipbuilding contract with Bergen Group BMV

Bergen Group BMV has negotiated a contract with Island Offshore Shipholding Group LP  about takeover of the shipyard hull number 164, a large DP3 offshore vessel that will be completed in 2nd  quarter of 2010. The original contract for the construction of this vessel was made between Bergen Group BMV, a subsidiary of Bergen Group, and Aquanos Offshore in 2007. A change in the economic situation for the original purchaser made it necessary to bring in a new owner of the vessel. Island Offshore Shipholding Group LP takes over the new vessel without significant changes in contract conditions. The change of owner entails thus no changes in either earnings, order backlog or delivery time for this new building. Bergen Group BMV, located at Laksevåg in Bergen (Norway), has full order books until 1st quarter of 2011.
Island Offshore is a joint venture between Edison Chouest Offshore, Louisiana United States and Island Offshore Group in Ulsteinvik. Island Offshore Group operates in the North Sea, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. The Group currently has 18 ships ranging from PSV- and AHTS-boats to advanced vessels for subsea operations - including IOR (Increased Oil Recovery) and LWI (Light Well Intervention).
Bergen Group is a maritime industrial group with core expertise within shipbuilding, maritime service, offshore and technology. The Group has a total of 2000 employees along the Norwegian coast from Kirkenes in the north to Stavanger in the south.  The head quarter is located in Bergen.
