Asry action to avert outbreak
AN operation to combat swine flu has swung into action at Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry).
It is holding courses and exercises to increase awareness about precautions to take to prevent any possible outbreak among employees.
The company has set up a H1N1 committee which reports to chief executive Christopher Potter on preventive measures and the staff education drive, a spokesman said yesterday.
"We have prepared and distributed leaflets on symptoms and precautionary measures to all employees and their families.
"A health declaration form is to be filled to record the employee's health. When an employee returns from vacation, he is examined by medical staff for five days."
He said the company had also allocated isolation rooms in labour camps for those found sick, to prevent the spread of any infection.
