Lindenau picks up tanker repair work

Bremen-based tanker owner Reederei Carl Büttner will send three of its vessels to the Lindenau shipyard for substantial repair works in the next few weeks. The first vessel – ‘Aurelia’ –arrived at Kiel-Friedrichsort on the 27th of July. During the vessel’s 10 day stay at the beleaguered shipyard, it will be upgraded to IMO Type II. After the upgrade, the vessel will be allowed to transport biochemical fuels, as well as most other chemicals.
She will be followed by the ‘Libelle’, which was built at the yard 10 years ago. After the recurring class works are completed, the yard will install an inert gas system.
During the Autumn, her sister ‘Hornisse’, which was also delivered by the shipyard in 1998, will also have a nitrogen aggregate installed.
Meanwhile, on 6th July, Lindenau delivered the 43,500 dwt products tanker ‘Seapike’ to German Tanker Shipping.
She has the distinction of being the largest double hull tanker built in Germany thus far.
Following the handing over ceremony, ‘Seapike’ sailed for Vysotsk to load a cargo of gas oil for a French Atlantic coastal port.
