Asry completes 'Blue Marlin' repair work
Asry has completed work on Blue Marlin, a 76,410-tonne semi-submersible open-deck heavy transport carrier belonging to Dockwise Shipping. Work on the massive vessel was carried out at Asry's half-million-tonne dry dock facility, which saw the ship's 63 metres breadth leave only six metres space clear on either side of the dock.
The repairs carried out to Blue Marlin, which is capable of carrying structures of up to 73,000 tonnes, were the completion of her second special survey, renewal of approximately 30 tonnes steel in various places, blasting and painting of the hull, main deck and ballast tanks, and maintenance of valves, electric motors, steering gear and winches.
